Ministry of Coal Special Campaign 6: Ministry of Coal Targets E- Waste Disposal, Scrap Management and Workplace Modernization

Posted On: 24 SEP 2026 2:11PM by PIB Delhi The Ministry of Coal is set to spearhead Special Campaign 6 from 2nd October to 31st October 2026, focusing on the systematic collection, segregation, and scientific disposal of e-waste across all its administrative offices and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). Reaffirming its commitment to environmental responsibility and the national vision of converting 'waste into wealth,' the month-long initiative prioritizes workplace modernization, optimal office space utilization, accelerated digitalization, and scrap disposal. Through these efforts, the Ministry aims to foster clean, sustainable, and citizen-centric governance while reinforcing robust institutional mechanisms.

During Preparatory Phase of Special Campaign 6, Smt. Chetna Shukla, DDG, Shri Robin Gangte, DS, and officers reviewed the record room at Lok Nayak Bhavan on 23.09.2026. The exercise focused on systematic categorization of files and identification of outdated or redundant records for timely weeding out helping streamline record management, improving accessibility and optimizing cleared spaces for productive use.

As part of this nationwide initiative, WCL has conducted Nukkad Natak at HQ, Nagpur on E-Waste Management on 22.09.2026 spreading awareness on responsible collection, segregation, recycling and scientific disposal of e-waste.The Ministry, along with its CPSEs, CCO, and CMPFO, is actively identifying sites for cleanliness drives, disposing of scrap and redundant items, addressing pending references, grievances, and appeals, as well as streamlining space and record management. These initiatives reinforce operational efficiency, transparency, and effective waste management, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to sustainable administrative practices.

BEFORE AFTER As of September 24, 2026, the Ministry of Coal has already made significant progress in identifying targets for Special Campaign 6:

Sites identified to clean: 1462

Areas to be cleared: 1.21 crore sq. ft.

Quantity of Scrap to disposed of: 10,713 Metric Ton

Physical files to review: 10,189 E-files to review: 75,382 With the preparatory phase continuing till 30th September 2026, these numbers are expected to rise further. The Ministry of Coal remains resolute in achieving enhanced cleanliness, streamlined record management and governance efficiency through Special Campaign 6.
