Posted On: 19 SEP 2026 4:24PM by PIB Delhi Dr Abhilaksh Likhi, Secretary (Fisheries), Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAH&D) administered the Swachhata Pledge along with Dr Surabhi Rai, Joint Secretary (Marine Fisheries), Department of Fisheries, MoFAH&D, Shri Arunkumar M. Solanki, Additional Chief Secretary (Fisheries), Government of Gujarat, officials from department of fisheries, GoI, representatives from subordinate offices, fishermen, fish farmers, women fishers and fish farmers, fisheries cooperatives and industry representatives on 17th September 2026 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, reaffirming their resolve towards maintaining cleanliness, reducing pendency, promoting efficient record management and fostering a transparent and citizen-centric work culture. More than 1000 people participated in the pledge.

Held in a hybrid mode, the observance underscored the Department's commitment to promoting cleanliness and hygiene at workplaces, strengthening institutional accountability, streamlining record management practices, reducing pendency, and fostering a culture of collective action. It also highlighted the importance of adopting efficient administrative processes and encouraging active participation from all stakeholders in creating transparent, well-managed and citizen-centric institutions.The observance was organized as part of the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign being conducted from 17 September to 2 October 2026 to promote cleanliness, sanitation and public participation under the vision of Swachh Bharat Mission. The observance aimed to reinforce the commitment of the Department of Fisheries and its subordinate and autonomous bodies towards maintaining clean and healthy workplaces while fostering a culture of collective responsibility, cleanliness and service.
