BROADBAND CONNECTIVITY TO GOVERNMENT SECONDARY SCHOOLS
AND PRIMARY HEALTH CENTRES

WILL the Minister of COMMUNICATIONS be pleased to state:
(a) the current status of providing broadband connectivity to all Government Secondary
Schools and Primary Health Centres in the State of Bihar under the Bharat Net Project in
accordance with the announcement made in the Union Budget 2025-26, and the number of
such schools and Primary Health Centres that have been provided with broadband connectivity
so far;
(b) the timeline fixed for providing broadband connectivity to the remaining Government
Secondary Schools and Primary Health Centres and the current status of implementation,
district- wise; and
(c) the details of the amount sanctioned and spent for the State of Bihar under the BharatNet
project, district-wise details of broadband connections provided so far, number of benefitted
institutions, implementing agencies and the proposed time-frame for completion of the project?

(a) & (b) Under the Amended BharatNet Programme (ABP), Government has made
provision for 1.5 crore Fiber to the Home (FTTH) connections in Gram Panchayats/villages
across the country (including Bihar), with priority to cover Government institutions, including
Schools and Primary Health Centres.
As on 30.06.2026, under BharatNet, a total of 1,726 Government Secondary Schools
and 190 Primary Health Centres are connected with FTTH in Bihar. The District-wise details
are given as Annexure-I.
(c) Rs. 2,116.03 crore have been disbursed for BharatNet project in the State of Bihar.
