Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment TAPAS Strengthens Capacity Building through Self-Paced Online Certificate Courses NISD Records 6,866 Enrolments from 2021 to 2026

Posted On: 15 SEP 2026 5:45PM by PIB Delhi The National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, is strengthening accessible learning through TAPAS - Training for Augmenting Productivity and Services, an online learning management platform offering self-paced certificate courses in key areas of social defence.

A senior official in the Ministry said that TAPAS recorded 6,866 student enrolments between 2021 and 2026, including 733 enrolments in 2026. He said the courses are open to all individuals interested in enhancing their knowledge and skills in these areas.

The official said the platform follows a four-quadrant learning approach comprising video lectures, supplementary learning material, discussion forums and self-assessment exercises.

He said under TAPAS, five courses are offered that comprises 48 modules on Geriatric/Elderly Care, Social Defence Issues, Substance (Drug) Abuse Prevention, Transgender Issues and Care and Management of Dementia.
