The 11th National Handloom Day will be celebrated on August 7, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event will be graced by the presence of Hon'ble President Smt. Droupadi Murmu as the Chief Guest. Dignitaries including Union Minister of Textiles Shri Giriraj Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs & Textiles Shri Pabitra Margherita, Smt. Neelam Shami Rao (Secretary Textiles), and Dr. M. Beena (Development Commissioner Handlooms) will also be in attendance. Approximately 650 weavers from across India, along with foreign buyers, exporters, and senior government officials, are expected to participate.
The celebration will include the conferment of 5 Sant Kabir Awards and 19 National Handloom Awards to outstanding weavers. The President of India will release an award catalog and a coffee table book. The event aims to showcase India's handloom heritage and recognize the craftsmanship of its weavers. The program will feature recognition for top-performing Weavers Service Centres, distribution of beneficiary certificates under handloom schemes, and a fashion show highlighting iconic weaves and textiles.
From August 1st to 8th, 2025, various signature events are planned, including a display of award-winning handloom samples, live loom demonstrations, the unveiling of "Haat on Wheels" (a mobile handloom outlet), an exclusive handloom sari exhibition cum sale at Handloom Haat, Janpath, New Delhi; an exhibition focusing on regenerative materials at the Craft Museum, New Delhi; a Loom Hackathon by IIT Delhi; and an International Handwoven Expo. Awards will also be given to the best performer in export of handloom products.
National Handloom Day, established in 2015 in tribute to the Swadeshi Movement, is celebrated nationwide, including at Weavers Service Centers (WSCs), Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHTs), National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) campuses, National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC), Textile Committee, and Handloom Departments of various States/UTs. A social media campaign encompassing pledges, selfies, quiz contests, and engagement through various platforms is also being conducted.

The 11 National Handloom Day will be celebrated on 7 August 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
Hon’ble President Smt.Droupadi Murmu will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. Union Minister of
Textiles Shri Giriraj Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs & Textiles, Shri Pabitra Margherita, Smt.
Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary (Textiles) and Dr. M. Beena, Development Commissioner (Handlooms) will be
attending the function.
Around 650 weavers from the across the country will be attending the function.Besides them, foreign buyers,
eminent personalities, exporters, Senior Govt. Officers etc. will attend the above function.
During the occasion , 05 Sant Kabir Awards & 19 National Handloom Awards will be conferred to

The Swadeshi Movement, launched on August 7, 1905, at Town Hall, Kolkata, was a landmark moment in
India's freedom struggle that emphasized the revival of indigenous products and production processes. In a
tribute to this historic movement, the Government of India declared August 7 as National Handloom Day in
2015 to celebrate the spirit of self-reliance and to honour the contribution of the handloom sector to the
nation’s socio-economic and cultural fabric.
National Handloom Day is being celebrated across the country including Weavers Service Centers (WSCs),
prominent handloom clusters, Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHTs), National Institute of Fashion
Technology (NIFT) campuses, National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC), Textile Committee,
Handloom Departments of various States/UTs etc.
