S.O. 3316(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1A) of Section 9 read with
sub-section (2) of section 7 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 (44 of 1958) and in supersession of the notification of the
Government of India in the Ministry of Shipping number S.O. 2044 (E), dated the 6th September, 2011, except as respects
things done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the Central Government hereby authorises the following
persons or bodies of persons to be the surveyors, to carry out surveys and to issue or endorse the certificates and
documents, for cargo ships, under (i) the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 (as amended)
(SOLAS-74); (ii) the International Convention for the prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973/78 (as amended)
(MARPOL-73/78); (iii) the International Convention on Load Lines, 1966 (ICLL-66) and the Protocol of 1988 relating to
ICLL-66 (as amended); (iv) the International Convention for Tonnage Measurement of Ships, 1969; and (v) the rules and
orders made, including notices given, under the said Act, as may be specified in the respective agreements to be entered in
