Capital Territory of Delhi received the assent of the Lt. Governor of Delhi on the 15th November, 2016 and is hereby
published for general information:-
“The Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Viswavidyalaya (Amendment) Act, 2016”

An Act to further to amend the Bharat Ratna Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Viswavidyalaya Act, 2007
Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of National Capital Territory of Delhi in the Sixty seventh Year of the
Republic of India as follows:-
1. Short title and Commencement.- (1) This Act may be called The Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University (Amendment)
Act, 2016
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on 30th July, 2008.
2. Amendment Section 1.-In the Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Vishwavidyalaya Act, 2007 (hereinafter referred
of to as the principal Act), in section 1 for sub-section (1) the following shall be substituted,
section-1 .namely:-
“(1) This Act may be called the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University Delhi Act, 2007.”
3. Amendment Section 2.-In the principal Act, in section 2 for clause (v), the following clause shall be, substituted,
of namely:-
“(v) “University” means, the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University Delhi as incorporated under this Act,

4. Amendment Section 3.- In the principal Act, in section 3, for sub-section (1), the following shall be substituted,
of namely:-
“(1) With effect from such date as the Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, appoint,
there shall be established a University by the name of “Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi”,
comprising the Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor, the first members of the Court, the Board of
Management and the Academic Council of the University and all such persons as may hereinafter be
appointed at such office or as members so long as they continue to hold such office or membership”.
