NOTIFICATION
Delhi, the 11th December, 2017
No. F. DC/OPS/TPT/395/2014/264.—The following draft of rules further to amend the Delhi
Motor Vehicles Rules, 1993, which the Lieutenant Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi
proposes to make in exercise of the powers conferred by section 65 read with clause (41) of section 2 of the
Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (59 of 1988) is hereby published as required by sub-section (1) of section 212 of
the said Act for the information of all persons likely to be affected thereby and notice is hereby given that
the said draft will be taken into consideration after the expiry of a period of thirty days from the date of
publication of this notification in the Delhi Gazette together with any objections or suggestions that may be
received in respect thereto by the stipulated period.
2. Objection or suggestions in this behalf should be addressed to the Secretary-cum-Commissioner
(Transport), Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, Transport Department, 5/9 Under Hill
Road, Delhi-110054.
Draft Rules
Short Title and 1.(1) These rules may be called the Delhi Motor Vehicles (Amendment)
Commencement Rules, 2017.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their final publication in the
Delhi Gazette.
Amendment in Rule 2. In the Delhi Motor Vehicles Rules, 1993, in Rule 34A, for sub-rule(1),
34 A (1) the following shall be substituted,
“In case of non-transport four wheeled vehicle and two wheeled
vehicle, the assignment of registration mark as specified in column 1
of the table given below, in any available series of registration
marks shall be made available only on payment of additional fee to
the highest bidder selected through open auction in respect of
category 1, 2, 3 & 4 and payment of additional fee in respect of
