This notification, dated September 7, 2020, announces amendments to Rule 39 of the Post Office Life Insurance (POLI) Rules, 2011. The amendment concerns instances of wrong information or suppression of factual information by individuals admitted to the benefits of the Post Office Life Insurance Fund or Rural Post Office Life Insurance Fund. The key change replaces the decision-making authority from the "Postmaster General" to the "Approving Authority." Furthermore, it specifies that contracts are voidable, and payments are forfeited only if the insurance policy becomes a claim before three years from the date of acceptance or revival of the policy, whichever is later. The notification was issued by Manju Kumar, Chief General Manager PLI, equivalent to Addl. Secy., Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications. The original POLI Rules, 2011 were published on April 28, 2011, in the Gazette of India No. 85 Part I Section 1 Extraordinary.
