New Delhi, the 15th December, 2017
S.O. 3896(E).—The Shipping Corporation of India Limited was incorporated on 2nd October, 1961 by
amalgamation of Eastern Shipping Corporation and Western Shipping Corporation under the Administrative
Control of the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India having its registered office at Mumbai and in its
possession having Offices and residential premises at Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Thoothukudi, TN.
Consequent upon the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Act, 1971 (Act No. 40 of 1971)
and to carry out eviction of unauthorised occupants from public premises and other incidental matters
connected therewith, the Central Government in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3 of the Act,
1971 do hereby appoints the following designated Officers of the Shipping Corporation of India Limited
mentioned in Column 2 of the Table below being Officers equivalent to the rank of Gazetted Officers of the
Government of India, to be Estate Officers for the purpose of the said Act, who shall exercise the power
conferred and perform the duties imposed on the Estate officer by or under the said Act within the local limits
of their respective jurisdiction in respect of the public premises specified in column 3 of the said Table.
