Medical University, Chennai by the Deans/Principals of the affiliated Colleges providing courses of study and training in Medical Science from among themselves under Section 21(4)(b) of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, Act, 1987 (T.N.Act 37 of 1987) (No. EIII(3)/31321/2023) No. VI-3(b)/2/2024. Notice is hereby given that an election by direct polling is to be held in the University premises for electing two members to the Governing Council of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, as per clause (b) of sub-section (4) of Section 21 of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, Act, 1987 (Tamil Nadu Act 37 of 1987) by the Deans/Principals of the affiliated Colleges providing courses of Study and training in Medical Science from among themselves to fill the arising vacancies. The term of membership in the Governing Council will be for a period of 03(Three) years from the date of publication of the results of the election or the date on which he/she holds the post of Deans/Principals of the affiliated colleges whichever is earlier. 2. Forms of Nomination papers may be obtained from the Registrar, who is the Returning Officer from 27.12.2023 (Wednesday) to 08.01.2024 (Monday) between 11.00 hrs. and 13.00 hrs. 3. A candidate may withdraw his candidature by notice in writing sent by Registered Post with acknowledgement due so as to reach the Returning Officer or delivered in person or by other person duly authorized by him/her under acknowledgement to the Returning Officer not later than 15.00 hrs. on 18.01.2024 (Thursday). A candidate who has withdrawn his / her candidature shall not be allowed to cancel the withdrawal or to be re-nominated as a candidate for the same election. 7. List of final valid nominations will be published by affixing the same on the notice board at the University premises at 18.00 hrs. on 18.01.2024. A copy of Final list of valid nominations will be sent to the candidates. 8. Polling will be conducted in the premises of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University at No.69, Anna Salai, Guindy, Chennai-600 032 between 10.00 hrs. and 15.00 hrs. on 09.02.2024 (Friday) 9. Scrutiny and counting of votes will be done from 15.30 hrs. on 09.02.2024 and the result will be declared after the process is over.
