III.—In exercise of powers conferred under clause (g) of sub-section (1) of section 26 of the University Grants Commission Act 1956 (3 of 1956), the University Grants Commission hereby makes the following regulations, namely:- (1) These regulations may be called the “curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions (second Amendment) Regulations, 2013”. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, (hereinafter referred to as the Principal regulations), in the Annexure-I and II of the regulations, the sentences containing the following shall be deleted: “Solemnly affirmed and signed in my presence on this (day)of (month), (year) after reading the contents of this affidavit. (3) I have also, in particular, perused clause 7 and clause 9.1 of the Regulations and am fully aware of the penal and administrative action that is liable to be taken against me in case I am found guilty of or abetting ragging, actively or passively, or being part of a conspiracy to promote ragging. (4) I hereby solemnly aver and undertake that (a) I will not indulge in any behaviour or act that may be constituted as ragging under clause 3 of the Regulations.
