On the occasion of its 90th anniversary, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) launched
TISS Global, an internationally inclusive and innovative platform dedicated to examining and
strengthening India’s growth and development within the broader social, cultural, economic, and
geopolitical context.
TISS Global was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Badri Narayan Tiwari, with Prof.
Michael Pippenger, Vice President of the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, United States, as
the Special Guest.
In his inaugural address, Prof. Badri Narayan emphasised that as India continues to evolve as a
major global actor, it is essential to critically reflect on its developmental pathways and share its
experiences with the world in a spirit of mutual learning and solidarity. Reaffirming India’s
expanding role in the global development landscape, Prof. Michael Pippenger underscored the
importance of partnerships among educational institutions to collaboratively address pressing
global challenges.As part of the 90th anniversary celebrations, TISS Global will host a series of events providing a
forum for participants to explore the social, cultural, and political dimensions of India’s
