TRAI Assesses Network Quality Across Hyderabad – Visakhapatnam Rail and Visakhapatnam – Vijayawada Highway in the State of Andhra Pradesh (under Andhra Pradesh Licensed Service Area)
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released its Independent Drive Test (IDT) findings for the Andhra Pradesh Licensed Service Area (LSA), covering the Hyderabad - Visakhapatnam Rail and Visakhapatnam – Vijayawada Highway in September 2025. The drive tests were conducted by the TRAI Regional Office, Hyderabad, and evaluated 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G network performance in urban zones, institutional hotspots, and rural residential areas. Tests were conducted from September 3rd to September 4th 2025, for 695.7 Kms Hyderabad – Visakhapatnam Rail and 363.2 kms Visakhapatnam – Vijayawada Highway.
Key parameters assessed include voice services (Call Setup Success Rate (CSSR), Drop Call Rate (DCR), Call Setup Time, Call Silence Rate, Speech Quality (MOS), Coverage) and data services (Download/Upload Throughput, Latency, Jitter, Packet Drop Rate, and Video Streaming Delay).
Overall mobile network performance highlights:
* **Call Setup Success Rate (Auto-selection mode):** Airtel (98.91%), BSNL (49.02%), RJIL (95.79%), VIL (91.61%).
* **Drop Call Rate (Auto-selection mode):** Airtel (0.00%), BSNL (17.60%), RJIL (0.37%), VIL (1.10%).
* **Average Download Speed:** Airtel (106.60 Mbps), BSNL (5.98 Mbps), RJIL (172.40 Mbps), VIL (31.14 Mbps).
* **Average Upload Speed:** Airtel (15.10 Mbps), BSNL (4.39 Mbps), RJIL (13.49 Mbps), VIL (6.58 Mbps).

* **Mean Opinion Score (MOS):** Airtel (3.93), BSNL (2.43), RJIL (3.82), VIL (3.85).
The Hyderabad – Visakhapatnam Rail assessment included areas passing through Pagidipalli, Warangal, Khammam, Motumari, Vijayawada, Eluru, Rajahmundry, Timmapuram, and Samalkotetc. The Visakhapatnam to Vijayawada Highway assessment included areas passing through Kasimkota, Regupalem, Nakkapalli, Prathipadu, Rajanagaram, Dubacheria, Hanuman Junction, Gannavaram, and Ramavarapadu etc.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released its Independent Drive Test (IDT)
findings for the Andhra PradeshLicensed Service Area (LSA), covering extensive routes of
Hyderabad – Visakhapatnam Rail and Visakhapatnam – Vijayawada Highway in the month of
September 2025. The drive tests conducted under the supervision of the TRAI Regional Office,
Hyderabad, were designed to capture real-world mobile network performance across diverse usage
environments- Urban Zones, Institutional Hotspots, rural residential areas etc.
Between 3rd September 2025 to 4th September 2025, TRAI teams conducted detailed tests for 695.7
Kms Hyderabad – Visakhapatnam Rail and 363.2 kms Visakhapatnam – Vijayawada Highway
drive test. Technologies evaluated included 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G, reflecting the service experience of
users across multiple handset capabilities. The findings of the IDT have been intimated to all the TSPs
concerned.
