In June 2025, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) conducted independent drive tests (IDT) to assess mobile network quality across the Maharashtra Licensed Service Area (LSA), focusing on Sangli City and the Sangli to Bengaluru railway route. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released its Independent Drive Test (IDT) findings
for the Maharashtra Licensed Service Area (LSA), covering extensive city, highway and Railway routes
during the month of June 2025. The drive tests, conducted under the supervision of the TRAI Regional Office,
Bengaluru, were designed to capture real-world mobile network performance across diverse usage
environments - urban zones, institutional hotspots, public transport hubs, and high-speed corridors.
Between 02 to 06 June 2025, TRAI teams conducted detailed tests across Sangli City and surrounding
areas including 375.5 Kms of City drive, Railway drive of 741.1 Kms (Sangli to Bengaluru), 12 Hot
spots and 11.4 Kms of Walk segments. Technologies evaluated included 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G, reflecting the
service experience of users across multiple handset capabilities. The findings of IDT have been intimated to
all Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) concerned.

In Sangli, the assessment included high-density neighbourhoods like Ashta, Kasbe Digraj, Tasgaon, Kavathe
Ekand, Budhgaon, Kupwada, Alkudam, Malgaon, Miraj, Mhaisal, Arag, Kuktoli and Hingangaon etc.
TRAI also evaluated real-world conditions at Collector Office, D-Mart, Ganapati Peth & Haripur Temple,
Krishna Valley School Area, Padmabhushan Vasantdada Patil Institute of Technology (PVPIT), Rajeev
Gandhi ITI Campus, Rajwada Area Palace Vicinity, RTO Office, Sangli Bus Stand, Sangli Miraj Kupwad
Municipal Corporation Building, SFC Mega Mall Sangli and Siddhivinayak Cancer Hospital — to reflect
stationary user experience.
The walk tests, conducted on 03 June and 05 June 2025, focused on Mahaveer Udyan (Bapat Mala), Miraj
Railway Station, Sangli Industrial Estate (MIDC Kupwad) and Vasantdada Market Yard, capturing mobile
network behaviour in crowded pedestrian environments.
The Sangli to Bengaluru Railway route, a high-speed mobility stretch passing through Miraj Junction,
Kudachi station, Raybag station, Belgaum station, Londa Junction, Hubli Junction and Birur Junction, was
also tested to understand quality of service during intercity travel.
The tests were conducted using TRAI calibrated equipment and standardised protocols in real-time
