Replying to an un-starred question today in Rajya Sabha the Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs
Shri Durgadas Uikey informed that under the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission (PMJVM) scheme,
a total of 4105 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs) have been sanctioned associating 12,27,231 members.
These VDVKs have reported a cumulative sale of Rs. 13793.97 lakhs till date. Additionally, under the
Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) initiative, a total of 539 VDVKs
have been sanctioned associating 45,924 members. These VDVKs have reported a total sale of Rs. 386.04
Lakhs till date. The State/UT - wise details of the same are given at Annexure.
It has been observed that certain State Implementing Agencies (SIAs) are overburdened, which has
impacted their ability to proactively drive the progress of the schemes. This is also impacted by inadequate
skilled human resources. Additionally, inadequate infrastructure support & funding for VDVKs has been
identified as a key constraint, limiting the effective execution of the initiatives. Furthermore, there is a
notable deficiency in marketing opportunities, which hampers promotion and outreach.
The proposed measures taken in this regard are as follows:
i. Engaging Implementing Support Agencies (ISAs) to alleviate the workload of overburdened
State Implementing Agencies (SIAs).
ii. Strengthening capacity-building initiatives to enhance skills and operational efficiency.
iii. Developing robust value addition mechanisms to ensure product enhancement, along with
comprehensive marketing support at local, national, and international levels.
iv. Provision of dedicated funding for the development of packaging and branding of VDVK
products.
v. Provision of vehicle facilities to VDVKs to facilitate the marketing of their products.
vi. Onboarding VDVK products onto various e-market platforms, expanding reach from national
to global markets.
