Under Chapter IV, Section 23 sub-section (b) (4) of the Thiruvalluvar University Act, 2002 (Tamil Nadu Act 32 of 2002), TWO MEMBERS to the SYNDICATE are to be elected by the Principal of Affiliated Colleges of Thiruvalluvar University from among themselves in accordance with the system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote. 2. Under Chapter III, Section 20 sub-section (1) (i) of the said Act, TEN PRINCIPALS of Affiliated Colleges are to be elected from among themselves and under sub-section (1) (j) of the said Act, TEN TEACHERS OF AFFILIATED AND APPROVED COLLEGES other than Principals of Affiliated Colleges are to be elected to the Academic Council from among themselves in accordance with the system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote. 3. Under Chapter III, Section 20 sub-section (1) (o) of the said Act, TWO SECRETARIES of Private Colleges are to be elected from among themselves to the Academic Council in accordance with the system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote. 4. The persons getting elected will hold office as a Member of the Syndicate / Academic Council for a period of THREE YEARS from the date of declaration of results. 5. Nomination Papers shall be enclosed in an envelope addressed to the Registrar and superscribed “NOMINATION TO THE SYNDICATE BY THE PRINCIPALS” - ”NOMINATION TO THE ACADEMIC COUNCIL BY THE PRINCIPALS” and ”NOMINATION TO THE ACADEMIC COUNCIL BY THE TEACHERS [Other than Principals]” and “NOMINATION TO THE ACADEMIC COUNCIL BY THE SECRETARIES” as indicated below and sent by Registered Post with Ack. Due so as to be received by the Registrar or delivered to the Registrar during Office Hours either in Person or by messenger within the date and hour fixed. 6. Nomination Papers that are not enclosed in an envelope superscribed and sent by Registered Post or not delivered in person or by messenger as required above shall be declared invalid. An elector shall be eligible to subscribe either as proposer or as seconder in Nomination Papers as many times as there are vacancies only but not more.
