1. Notice is hereby given that an election by postal voting is to be held for electing one Professor to the Senate
of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, as per clause (b) of sub-section (3) of Section 18 of the
Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R Medical University, Chennai, Act, 1987 (Tamil Nadu Act 37 of 1987) by the Teachers of all Affiliated
Dental Colleges from among themselves. The term of membership in the regular vacancy will be for a period of three
years from the date of election or up to the date on which he/she ceases to hold the post of Professor of an Affiliated
Dental Colleges, whichever is earlier.
2. Forms of Nomination papers may be obtained from the office of the undersigned from 22-03-2017 to 03-04-2017
From 11.00 to 4.00 p.m (on all working days).
3. Nomination Papers duly filled in shall be submitted in an envelope addressed to the Registrar/Returning Officer
and super scribed “Nomination for election to the Senate Under Section 18(3) (b)” as indicated below, by Registered
Post with Acknowledgment Due so as to be received by the Registrar / Returning Officer not later than 4.00 p.m. on
03-04-2017 or to be delivered to the Returning Officer during office hours in person or by his/her proposer or by messenger
under acknowledgment within the date and hour mentioned above.

The nomination papers which are not sent by Registered Post with Acknowledgment Due or are Not delivered in
person by the nominee or by his/her proposer or by messenger, as required above, shall be declared invalid.
4. Nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny at 4.45 p.m on 03-04-2017 (Monday).
5. List of valued nominations will be published at 5.30 p.m. on 03-04-2017 (Monday) in the University premises.
6. Notice of withdrawal of candidature may be made as per the General statutes of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical
University on or before 3.00 p.m. on 10-04-2017 (Monday).
7. List of final valid nominations will be published in the University premises at 5.30 p.m. on 10-04-2017 (Monday).
A copy of final valid nomination and the final list of voters will be dispatched to the candidates.
8. A numbered declaration paper, a ballot paper with the name of the candidates bearing on it, the Returning Officer's
initials, a cover for sending Ballot Paper and an envelope Containing the address of the Returning Officer will be sent
to the address entered against the name of the voter in the final electoral roll through the Heads of the Institutions / College
in which he / she is working, on 20-04-2017 (Thursday) on 10.00 A.M and 4.00 P.M. No ballot paper will be issued in
the office to the voters on the day of election. The cover containing the ballot paper and the declaration form in the
envelope be sent by Registered Post, so as to reach the Registrar/Returning Officer not later than 4.00 p.m. on
05-05-2017 (Friday), the day fixed for poll.
9. The Voter may, either in person or by an agent, deposit the envelope addresses to the Returning Officer in the
ballot box provided for the purpose at the office of the Returning Officer till 4.00 P.M. on 05-05-2017 (Friday).
10. Scrutiny and counting of votes and declaration of results will be from 10.30 a.m. on 08.05.2017 (Monday) till
the process is over.
Note:
1. The intimation of valid nominations would be sent to the candidates with a copy of the notification of the programme
for the election containing last date of withdrawal and date of dispatching the ballot paper to the Returning Officer by
post, etc.
2. If the number of candidates, who are validly nominated and who have not withdrawn their candidates in the manner
prescribed and within the time specified, does not exceed or is less than the number of vacancies to be filled, such
candidate shall be declared to be duly elected.
