NOTIFICATION
Delhi, the 13th April, 2017
No. F. 4 (229)/OSD.I/Legal/SEC/2017/699.—Whereas for the purpose of holding general elections
to the three Municipal Corporations of National Capital Territory of Delhi, the State Election Commissioner
of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, has called upon all the wards of three Municipal Corporations of
Delhi to elect Councillors vide Commission’s Notification of even number dated the 22nd March, 2017,
And whereas the period for filing nominations for the above election was fixed as 27th March, 2017 to
3rd April, 2017 and scrutiny of nominations was conducted on 5th April, 2017 as scheduled.
And whereas Smt. Naseema was nominated as a candidate for Ward No.40E of East Delhi Municipal
Corporation by the SAMAJWADI PARTY, recognized as a STATE PARTY of Election Commission of
India and adopted as such by this Commission under the provisions of Rule 15 of the Delhi Municipal
Corporation (Election of Councillors) Rules, 2012 and the SYMBOL ORDER issued thereunder.
And whereas the Returning Officer of Ward 40E of East Delhi Municipal Corporation has vide his
letter No.F.1/RO/65/SLP/2017/120, dated the 7th April, 2017 informed that the said Smt. Naseema, a
nominated candidate from ward 40E of EDMC, has expired on 5.4.2017 at 4.00 A.M.
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the provisions of Rule 32 of the Delhi Municipal Corporation
(Election of Councillors) Rules, 2012, the Commission adjourns the poll for Ward No.40E of East Delhi
Municipal Corporation as was fixed earlier to be held on 23.4.2017 and orders for fresh poll as per programme
given below:—
1. Filing of nominations 17.4.2017 (Monday) to 24.4.17 (Monday)
2. Scrutiny of nominations on 26.4.2017 (Wednesday)
3. Last date for withdrawal by 3.00 P.M. on 29.4.2017 (Saturday)
of candidatures.
4. Date of poll, if necessary 14.5.2017 (Sunday)
5. Counting of votes 16.5.2017 ((Tuesday)
6. Completion of election 22.5.2017 (Monday)
The candidates who have filed their nominations earlier for above said Ward No.40E of EDMC need
not file fresh nominations. The Samajwadi Party (a State recognized party) may file nominations of a fresh
candidate to the said Ward 40E during the period of nominations as aforesaid. Provided that no person who
has given a notice of withdrawal of his candidature under rule 23 of the aforesaid rules before the adjournment
of the poll, shall be ineligible for being nominated as a candidate for the election after such adjournment.
