Subject : Extension in date for mandating IS 16333 (Part 3) : 2016-Indian Language Support for Mobile
Phones
S.O. 1490.(E)—Whereas Government of India, has issued the Order for mandating Indian Language
Support for Mobile Phones as per IS 16333 (Part 3):2016, and whereas mobile handset manufactures have raised
concerns with regard to compliance to the Order due to various reasons, and whereas to address these issues and
to facilitate the industry for smooth implementation of the Order, the following notification is issued in
continuation of the Order.
2. Extension in date:
The date of coming into effect of the aforesaid Order stands extended to 01st May 2018.
Note : The Principal Order was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary vide S.O. number 2357(E),
dated 3rd October, 2012 and subsequently amended vide S.O. 2034(E) dated 5th July, 2013, S.O. 3022 (E) dated
4th October, 2013, S.O. 2905(E) dated 13th November, 2014, S.O. 345 (E) dated 3rd February, 2016,
S.O. 638(E) dated 10th February, 2016, S.O. 3509(E) dated 24th October, 2016 and 8 (81)2015-IPHW dated
29th September 2017.
