This notification, S.O. 4405(E), issued by the Ministry of External Affairs on December 5, 2019, extends privileges and immunities to the Regional Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in India. NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 5th December, 2019
S.O. 4405(E).—Whereas in pursance of the exchange of letters between the Government of India and
the International Committee of the Red Cross, India, it is decided to accord the Regional Office of
International Committe of Red Cross, privileges and immunities in India similar to those contained in
sections 7(b), 8 and 18 of the Schedule to the United Nations (Privileges and Immunities), Act 1947 (46 of
1947) for a further period of two years from 1st January, 2020.
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3 of the aforementioned Act, the
Central Government hereby notifies that the privileges and immunities extended to the Regional Office of the
International Committee of the Red Cross in India vide its Notification No. D-II/451/16(2)/85 dated the 16th
June, 1986 shall apply, mutatis mutandis to the Regional Office of the International Committee of the Red
Cross in India and to its officers for a period of 2 years from 01st January, 2020.
This notification shall remain in force for a period of two years years from 01st January, 2020.
