No.1-CA(7)/194)/2020.—Whereas in pursuance of Regulation 159(1A) of the Chartered Accountants
Regulations, 1988,by Notification no 1-CA (7)/ (177)/ 2016 dated 8.4.2016,the Council of the Institute of Chartered
Accountants of India (ICAI) had set up of a Branch of Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) in Kanchipuram
District, Tamil Nadu with effect from 14th August, 2015 with its Headquarter at Tambaram.
Whereas the Government of Tamil Nadu, vide G.O.(Ms) No. 428 dated 12/11/2019 and G.O.(Ms) No. 429
dated 12/11/2019 has notified bifurcation of Kanchipuram District into two Revenue Districts viz., Kanchipuram
District with Kanchipuram as its headquarters and Chengalpattu District with Chengalpattu as its headquarters.
The Council of ICAI at its 393rd Meeting held on 30th June and 1st July, 2020 on consideration of
recommendations of SIRC and Management Committee of the Council in the matter, decided as under:
Kanchipuram District Branch of SIRC shall be renamed as Chengalpattu District Branch of SIRC with its
headquarter at Tambaram.
Jurisdiction of the Branch will be Members having their addresses registered in the erstwhile Kanchipuram
District viz. Revenue Districts of Chengalpattu and Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu.
Accordingly, to give effect to the above decision of the Council, this notification under Regulation 159 (IA)
of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988 is hereby issued.
As prescribed under Regulation 159(3), Chengalpattu District Branch shall function subject to the control,
supervision and directions of the Council through SIRC and shall carry out such directions as may, from time to time,
be issued by the Council.
