NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 28th February, 2019
S.O. 1092(E).—Whereas, India acceded to the Agreement establishing the European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development by submitting its Instrument of Accession dated the 17th April,
2018 and became a member of the Bank on 11th July, 2018;
And whereas, Articles 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55 of Chapter VIII of the
said Agreement deal with privileges and immunities of the Bank, and its representatives and
officials;
And whereas, the Central Government considers it expedient to extend the necessary
privileges and immunities provided under the United Nations (Privileges and Immunities) Act, 1947
(46 of 1947) to the Bank and its representatives and its officials;
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the United Nations
(Privileges and Immunities) Act, 1947 (46 of 1947), the Central Government hereby declares that the
provisions of section 1 of Article 1, sections 2,3,4,5,6 and section 7 of Article II, section 9 of Article
III, clauses (a), (b), (c), (d) and (e) of section 18 and section 20 of Article V and clauses (a), (b), (c),
(e) and (f) of section 22 of Article VI of the Schedule to the said Act shall apply , mutatis mutandis,
to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development , its representatives and officials.
