NOTIFICATION
Delhi, the 4th November, 2016
No. 597/PS/CA/NDMC.—Whereas, sub-section (1) of section 260 of the New Delhi Municipal Council Act,
1994 (44 of 1994) empowers the Central Government, by notification in the Gazette of the Government of the National
Capital Territory of Delhi, to make building bye-laws for the areas under the jurisdiction of the New Delhi Municipal
Council.
And whereas, sub-section (3) of section 260 of the said New Delhi Municipal Council Act, 1994 provides that
the draft of such bye-laws shall be forwarded to the Chairperson who shall cause the same to be published in the
Gazette of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi for inviting objections and suggestions from the
public within thirty days from the date of such publications.
And whereas, the Delhi Development Authority, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of
section 57 of Delhi Development Act, 1957 (61 of 1957), with the previous approval of the Central Government
notified the “Unified Building Bye Laws for Delhi 2016” vide notification number S.O. 1191(E), dated the 22nd March,
2016, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii).
And whereas, the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, vide letter No. K-12016/3/2014-DDI
dated the 23rd March, 2016, requested New Delhi Municipal Council to adopt the said Unified Building Bye Laws for
Delhi, 2016.
Now therefore, in exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 260 of the New Delhi Municipal
Council Act, 1994, the Chairperson, New Delhi Municipal Council hereby invites objections and suggestions from the
public on the “Unified Building Bye Laws for Delhi 2016” published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II,
Section 3, Sub-section (ii) vide notification number S.O. 1191(E), dated the 22nd March, 2016 as amended by
notification number S.O. 2479(E), dated the 21st July, 2016 published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II,
Section 3, Sub-section (ii) and notice is hereby given that the said bye-laws will be taken into consideration after expiry
of the period of thirty days from the date on which the copies of the Gazette in which this notification is published are
made available to the public.
Any person interested in making any objections or suggestions on such bye-laws may do so in writing thirty
days from the date of publication of this notification through post to the Secretary, New Delhi Municipal Council,
3rd Floor, Palika Kendra, Sansad Marg, New Delhi-110001, or electronically at e-mail address: secretary@ndmc.gov.in.
Any objection or suggestions, which may be received from any person or organization in respect to the said
bye-laws within the period so specified will be considered by the Central Government.
