NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 9th August, 2019
S.O. 2890(E).—Whereas the Central Government had issued “Solar Photovoltaics, Systems,
Devices and Components Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2017" vide
S.O 2920 (E) dated 5 September 2017 for six products included in the Schedule with the date of coming into
force with effect from 5th September 2018, the period of which was extended through a number of orders
issued by this Ministry from time to time.
2. And whereas the issue of exemption of BIS certification for projects requiring replacement of
modules in the old projects was analyzed and exemption for replacement up to of 2 modules per project was
allowed vide 3449(E) published in Gazette of India on 13.07.2018. The same provision stands revised with
exemption from BIS certification being allowed for replacement up to 2 modules per MW, provided the same
have valid IEC certificates corresponding to Indian Standards listed in the said order and test reports. If the
replacement is more, the manufacturers will have to get the product tested in test labs as per Indian
Standards. For the purpose of getting exemption under this clause, a specific exemption from this Ministry
would be required.
