Delhi, the 15th October, 2020
F. No. DC/OPS/TPT/2020/75/59849.—Whereas the draft rules further to amend the Delhi Motor Vehicles
Rules, 1993 were published as required under sub-section (1) of section 212 of the Motor Vehicles Act,1988 (59 of
1988), vide Notification No.F.DC/OPS/TPT/2020/75/57917 dated 10-10-2020 in the Delhi Gazette, Part-IV, Extra-
ordindary inviting objects and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby, before expiry of the period
of three days from the date on which copies of the Delhi Gazette containing the said notification were made available
to public.
And whereas, copies of the said Gazette notification were made available to the public on the 10th October, 2020.
And whereas, no objection and suggestion have been received from the public in respect of the said draft rules.
Now therefore, in exercise of powers given under rule 81 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 by Central
Government vide notification dated 21st March 2017, G.S.R 271(E), clause 2(i) published in gazette of Part-II, section
3 (i), the following rules further to amend the Delhi Motor Vehicles Rules, 1993 are hereby made, namely :-
Rules
Short Title and 1 (1) These rules may be called the Delhi Motor Vehicles (Second
Commencement Amendment) Rules, 2020.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their final
publication in the Delhi Gazette.[PART IV DELHI GAZETTE : EXTRAORDINARY 3
Insertion of new Rule 37A 2 (1) In the Delhi Motor Vehicles Rules, 1993 after Rule 37,
following shall be inserted namely :
Rule 37 A (2) The Registration fee prescribed at Serial No.4 in the Column
3 of the Table given in Rule 81 of Central Motor Vehicles
Rules, 1989 shall not be applicable on Battery Operated
Vehicles as defined in Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
(3) Notwithstanding anything contained in these rules, the
Commissioner may by order exempt a person or a class of
persons from the payment of additional fee for delay in
transfer of ownership, change of residence and delay in grant
or renewal of certificate of fitness for a motor vehicle as
specified in the table of fees in Rule 81 of the Central Motor
Vehicles Rules, 1989, at Serial No. 6, 7 and 11 respectively.
