NOTIFICATION
MAHARASHTRA ANCIENT MONUMENTS AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES AND REMAINS ACT, 1960.
No. Rasansma 2025/C.R. 125/Sanka-3.—Whereas the Government of Maharashtra is of the
opinion that the ancient and historical Monument described in the Schedule hereto (hereinafter
referred to as “ the said Monument ”), should be a protected Monument.
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the
Maharashtra Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1960 (Mah. XII of
1961), the Government of Maharashtra hereby gives two months’ notice of the intention to declare
the said Monument to be a Protected Monument.
Any person interested in the said Monument may, within two months from the date of
publication of this notification in the Official Gazette, object to the declaration of the said Monument
to be a Protected Monument.
Any such objections which may be received by the Secretary (Cultural Affairs), Government
of Maharashtra, Mantralaya, Mumbai 400 032, before the expiry of the aforesaid period of two
months will be considered by the Government.

Majalgaon is a Chalukya-Kalyani period temple belonging
to 12th C.C.E. This temple is structurally arranged in the
pattern of Mukhamandapa, Sabhamandapa, Antaral and
Garbhagruha. The eight pillars of Rangshila are ornate.
There two are Devakoshtaka in Sabhamandapa, having the
image of Saraswati in the North and Nagdevata in the South,
respectively. This temple is an excellent specimen of the
Chalukyan period’s art and architecture.
