Read: 1) The Karnataka Police (Amendment) Act, 2012 issued vide Special Gazette dated : 09.08.2012. 2) Notification No. HD 208 PoSaEe 2012 dated 04.09.2012. 3) Government order No. HD 61 PoSiAa 2019 dated 17.07.2019. 4) Notification No. HD 61 PoSiAa 2019 dated 10.08.2022. 5) Letter No. RPS.502011 dated:12.01.2023 of the Registrar General, High Court of Karnataka, Bengaluru. PREAMBLE: In the Special Gazette read at (1) above, State Government has amended the Karnataka Police Act, 1963 (Karnataka Act No. 4 of 1964) and made suitable amendment to Section 20 of the Act to constitute the State Police Complaints Authority under Section 20C. In the Notification dated 04.09.2012 read at (2) above, Government has constituted the State Police Complaints Authority and the District Police Complaints Authorities for the purpose of exercising such functions and discharging such duties as may be assigned to it, by or under Section 20C and 20D of the Karnataka Police Act, 1963 (Karnataka Act 4 of 1964). In the Government Order dated 17.07.2019 read at (3) above in pursuance of the section 20C of the Karnataka Police (Amendment) Act, 2012 the Government of Karnataka has appointed Hon'ble Justice (Retd) Sri C.R Kumarswamy, former Judge of the High Court of Karnataka as Chairman of the State Police Complaints Authority. As per the section 20C (3) every non- official member of the State Police Complaints Authority shall hold office for a period of three years. (1)R.N.I. No. KARBIL/2001/47147 POSTAL REGN. No. RNP/KA/BGS/2202/2017-19 Licensed to post without prepayment WPP No. 297 2 In the Notification dated 10.08.2022 read at (4) above, Hon’ble Justice (Retd) Sri C.R Kumarswamy was relieved from the post of Chairman as the term of three years of his appointment was completed on 18.07.2022. As per the provisions of the Act, panel of names of retired Hon'ble High Court Judges was sought from the Registrar General, High Court of Karnataka. Accordingly vide letter read at (5) above, the Registrar General, High Court of Karnataka, sent panel of names of retired High Court Judges as recommended by the Hon'ble Chief Justice of High Court of Karnataka. After examining the same, the Government is pleased to pass the following order. Government Order No. HD/6/PPA/2023, Bengaluru Dated:31.07.2023. In view of the circumstances explained above and in pursuance of section 20C of the Karnataka Police (Amendment) Act, 2012 Government is pleased to appoint Hon'ble Shri Justice N.K Sudhindrarao, former Judge of High Court of Karnataka as the Chairman of the State Police Complaints Authority.
