Centre Grants 3 Lakh PMAY-G Homes to Andhra Pradesh, Unveils 3D Housing Pilot

Andhra Pradesh secured a major rural infrastructure boost as the Centre handed over the first instalment for three lakh houses worth ₹3,600 crore under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin 2.0. The sanction marks a significant upward revision from the state's initial quota of 76,000 units, following direct representations by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to expand housing security across rural districts.

During the rollout ceremony at Burripalem in Guntur district, Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also laid the foundation stone for India's first pilot housing project built with 3D concrete printing technology. The ₹14-crore pilot will build 177 disaster-resilient houses across Burripalem and Obulnayudupalem within six months, leveraging automated construction to cut project delivery schedules, overhead expenses, and conventional labour demands.

The Centre confirmed that an additional six lakh homes will be cleared in sequential tranches of three lakh units once current construction targets are met, fully addressing the state government's request for nine lakh permanent homes. Chouhan reaffirmed New Delhi's financial backing for the ₹15,000 crore development of state capital Amaravati alongside continued 100 percent grant assistance for the Polavaram irrigation project.

Alongside housing disbursements, central and state authorities highlighted welfare convergence, combining the PM-KISAN payout with the state's Annadata Sukhibhava scheme to provide rural farmers with ₹20,000 in annual direct support. Officials also outlined plans to expand Andhra Pradesh's self-help group ecosystem from 23 lakh to 60 lakh Lakhpati Didis to improve rural purchasing power and local enterprise.
