eSanjeevani Hits 50 Crore Teleconsultations Across India

India's national telemedicine network, eSanjeevani, has crossed 50 crore remote consultations. Official health data shows women drove 57.14 percent of these sessions, while patients aged 46 and above accounted for over 40 percent. The milestone cements the platform as the world's largest public primary-care telemedicine rollout.

Developed indigenously by C-DAC Mohali, the platform now connects over 1.42 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandir spokes to nearly 19,500 medical hubs. With more than 2.41 lakh registered providers across 15 languages, daily patient volume averages 2.5 to 3 lakh consultations. Peak single-day activity recently climbed above 6.3 lakh visits.

Recent upgrades integrate an artificial intelligence Clinical Decision Support System to assist medical personnel during real-time consultations. The network has also linked with emergency helpline ERSS-112 to streamline urgent care handoffs. Crucially, tertiary centers including AIIMS Jodhpur, Patna, and Jammu now offer direct remote specialist OPD bookings.

Expanding specialist consultations to premier hospitals like JIPMER and PGIMER Chandigarh aims to curb crowded waiting rooms and eliminate costly travel for rural patients. For healthcare administrators, the challenge now shifts to maintaining system uptime and diagnostic consistency as caseloads transition from basic triage to complex outpatient care.
