S T A T U T O R Y I N S T R U M E N T S 2016 No. 918 ROAD TRAFFIC The M6 Toll Motorway (Curdworth to Cannock) (Slip Roads) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2016 Made 9th September 2016 Coming into force 16th September 2016

WHEREAS the Secretary of State for Transport, being the traffic authority for the M6 Toll Motorway (“the M6 Toll”) and connecting roads, is satisfied that traffic on some of those connecting roads between Curdworth and Cannock in the City of Birmingham, the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall and the Counties of Warwickshire and Staffordshire, should be prohibited

because works are proposed to be executed thereon:

NOW, THEREFORE, the Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by

section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(a) hereby makes the following Order:-

1. This Order may be cited as The M6 Toll Motorway (Curdworth to Cannock) (Slip Roads) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2016 and shall come into force on Friday 16th September 2016.

2. In this Order – “a slip road” means the slip roads leading – a) to the northbound carriageway of the M6 Toll at Junction T1, at Curdworth; b) from the southbound carriageway of the M6 Toll at Junction T2, at Wishaw;

c) to or from the M6 Toll at Junction T3, near Sutton Coldfield; d) to or from the M6 Toll at Junction T4, at Weeford; e) to the northbound carriageway of the M6 Toll at Junction T5, near Shenstone; f) from the southbound carriageway of the M6 Toll at Junction T5 near Shenstone;

g) to or from the M6 Toll at Junction T6, near Brownhills; h) to or from the M6 Toll to or from Norton Cannes Motorway Service Area; i) from the northbound carriageway of the M6 Toll at Junction T7, at Churchbridge;

(a) 1984 c.27; a new section 14 was substituted by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 (c.26), section 1(1) and Schedule 1.j) to the southbound carriageway of the M6 Toll at Junction T7 at Churchbridge;

k) from the northbound carriageway of the M6 Toll at Junction T8, near Cannock; l) to the southbound carriageway of the M6 Toll at Junction T8 near Cannock. "the works period" means the period starting at 21:00 hours on Friday 23rd September 2016 and ending when the said works have been completed;

and a reference to an article followed by a number is a reference to the article in this Order which bears that number.

3. Subject as mentioned in article 4, no person shall, during the works period, cause or permit any vehicle to enter or proceed on a slip road.

4. The provisions of article 3 shall apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs and shall not apply to any vehicle – a) being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes;

b) proceeding at the direction of, or with the permission of, a police constable; c) being used in connection with the said works; or d) being driven by, or at the direction of, a traffic officer in uniform Signed by authority of the Secretary of State J.
