Executive Summary & Key Takeaways

**Policy Summary:** This document outlines Decision No. 208/2020 of the EEA Joint Committee, enacted on December 11, 2020, which amends Annex VI (Social Security) to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA). The core purpose of this decision is to incorporate Decision No. F3 of December 19, 2018, into the EEA Agreement. Decision No. F3 concerns the interpretation of Article 68 of Regulation (EC) No. 883/2004, specifically addressing the method for calculating the differential supplement related to social security benefits. Article 1 of Decision No. 208/2020 adds point 3.F3, referencing "3 2019 D 062601: Decision No F3 of 19 December 2018," after point 3.F2 within Annex VI. This incorporation ensures that the interpretation of Article 68 is consistently applied across the EEA. Article 2 affirms that the Icelandic and Norwegian language versions of Decision No. F3, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union, will be considered authentic. The decision took effect on December 12, 2020, contingent upon the completion of all notifications required under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement. The decision was published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union. The President of the EEA Joint Committee, Sabine Monauni, signed the decision in Brussels. The relevant Official Journal reference for Decision No. F3 is OJ C 215, 26.6.2019, p. 2.
