Executive Summary & Key Takeaways

**Policy Summary:** EEA Joint Committee Decision No. 220/2019, dated September 27, 2019, amends Annex II (Technical regulations, standards, testing and certification) to the EEA Agreement. This decision incorporates Commission Regulations (EU) 2019/800 and 2019/801 into the EEA Agreement. Regulation 2019/800 concerns the extension of the use of carminic acid, carmine (E 120) in specific meat products traditional to French Overseas Territories. Regulation 2019/801 pertains to the use of mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids (E 471) on certain fresh fruits. The amendment adds indents referencing Regulations (EU) 2019/800 (OJ L 132, 20.5.2019, p. 15) and 2019/801 (OJ L 132, 20.5.2019, p. 18) to point 54zzzzr of Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008 within Chapter XII of Annex II to the EEA Agreement. The authentic texts of Regulations (EU) 2019/800 and 2019/801 in Icelandic and Norwegian will be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union. The decision entered into force on September 28, 2019, following the completion of notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement. The decision was published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union.
