Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 225/2022 of 8 July 2022 amending Protocol 31 to the EEA Agreement, on cooperation in specific fields outside the four freedoms [2023/642]
**Summary:**
EEA Joint Committee Decision No. 225/2022, adopted on July 8, 2022, amends Protocol 31 to the EEA Agreement, specifically Article 5, paragraphs 5 and 14. The amendment extends cooperation between the Contracting Parties to the EEA Agreement and the European Union in areas funded by the Union's general budget. These areas include the free movement of workers, coordination of social security schemes, and measures for migrants, including those from third countries. The amendment replaces the term "financial year 2021" with "financial years 2021 and 2022," thereby extending the cooperation to cover the 2022 financial year. This decision entered into force on the day following the last notification under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement and applies retroactively from January 1, 2022. The decision was published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union.
