amending Annex XX (Environment) to the EEA Agreement [2023/2032]
THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,
Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (“the EEA Agreement”), and in particular Article 98
thereof,
Whereas:
(1) Directive (EU) 2018/410 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 March 2018 amending
Directive 2003/87/EC to enhance cost-effective emission reductions and low-carbon investments, and Decision
(EU) 2015/1814(1) was incorporated into the EEA Agreement by Decision of the EEA Joint Committee
No 112/2020 of 14 July 2020.
(2) The figures for Iceland pursuant to Articles 9 and 9a(2) of Directive 2003/87/EC, as amended by Directive
(EU) 2018/410, need to be amended.
(3) Annex XX to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1
Point 21al (Directive 2003/87/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council) of Annex XX to the EEA Agreement shall
be amended as follows:
1. In adaptation (i), the line concerning Iceland is replaced by the following:
‘Iceland: 1 774 646tonnes of CO equivalent.’

2. In adaptation (u):
(i) in PART A, the table concerning Iceland under the heading “1. EFTA States’ figures pursuant to Article 9” is
replaced by the following table:

Article 2
This Decision shall enter into force on 12 December 2020, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the

No 112/2020 of 14 July 2020(2), whichever is the later.
Article 3
This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European
Union.
