THE POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE,
Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 38, third paragraph, thereof,
Having regard to Council Decision 2014/219/CFSP of 15 April 2014 on the European Union CSDP mission in Mali
(EUCAP Sahel Mali)(1), and in particular Article 7(1) thereof,
Whereas:
(1) Pursuant to Article 7(1) of Decision 2014/219/CFSP, the Political and Security Committee (PSC) is authorised, in
accordance with Article 38, third paragraph, of the Treaty, to take the relevant decisions concerning the political
control and strategic direction of the European Union CSDP mission in Mali (EUCAP Sahel Mali), including the
decision to appoint a Head of Mission.
(2) On 8 December 2020, the PSC adopted Decision (CFSP) 2020/2199(2)appointing Mr. Hervé FLAHAUT as Head of
Mission of EUCAP Sahel Mali from 1 January 2021.
(3) On 10 January 2023, the Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2023/96(3)extending the mandate of EUCAP Sahel Mali
until 31 January 2025.
(4) On 20 February 2023, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy proposed the
appointment of Mr Peter KOLDING as Head of Mission of EUCAP Sahel Mali until 31 January 2024,
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1
Mr Peter KOLDING is hereby appointed as Head of Mission of the European Union CSDP mission in Mali (EUCAP Sahel
Mali) from 11 April 2023to 31 January 2024.
Article 2
This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its adoption.
It shall apply from 11 April 2023.
