NOTIFICATION Whereas the Notification to declare the Town Municipal Area of Bhatkal of Uttara Kannada District including Jaali Town Panchayat and Hebale Grama Panchayat as a smaller Urban Area and further to specify such Area as ‘City Municipal Council Area of Bhatkal’ was published as required by section-3 read with Section-4, 9, 359, 360 and 361 of the Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964, vide Government Notification No:UDD 355 MLR 2024, dated 25/08/2025 by providing thirty days time and was published in part- III, No.502, Karnataka Gazette Extraordinary, dated 25/08/2025 inviting objections from all persons likely to be affected thereby on or before thirty days from the date of publication of the above Notification. And whereas the Notification was made available to the public on the day of publication; And whereas no objection/suggestion is received within the stipulated period; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3, 9 and 361 of the Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964, the Hon’ble Governor, hereby notify the Town Municipal Area of Bhatkal of Uttara Kannada District including Jaali Town Panchayat and Hebale Grama Panchayat as mentioned in Schedule-A, along with boundaries mentioned in Schedule-B, as a “Smaller Urban Area” and further specify such area to be the “City Municipal Council Area of Bhatkal” having regard to: 1. The population of such area is not less than fifty thousand and not more than three lakhs; 2. The density of population in such area is not less than one thousand five hundred inhabitants to one square kilometer of area; 3. The revenue generated for local administration from such area from tax and non-tax sources in the year of the last preceding census is not less than rupees nine lakhs per annum or a sum calculated at the rate of rupees forty five per capita per annum, whichever is higher; 4.
