AIIMS Nagpur has achieved a significant milestone with the successful completion of 1,000 joint
replacement (arthroplasty) surgeries over the past four years, reinforcing its commitment to
providing advanced, affordable and high-quality orthopaedic care to patients across Central
India. Around 20 of these procedures were performed using robotic joint replacement
technology, enabling greater surgical precision and improved patient outcomes.
Congratulating the Orthopaedics Department, Prof. (Dr.) P.P. Joshi, Executive Director and CEO,
AIIMS Nagpur, said the achievement reflects the institute's dedication to delivering world-class
orthopaedic care while adopting cutting-edge medical technologies.
Dr. Samir Dwidmuthe, Professor and Head, Department of Orthopaedics, attributed the
milestone to the collective efforts of the arthroplasty team and the unwavering support of
anaesthesiologists, nursing staff, physiotherapists, operation theatre personnel and hospital
administration. Meanwhile, Dr. Saurabh Sah, In-charge of Joint Replacement Services,
reaffirmed the institute's focus on expanding access to advanced and evidence-based joint
