AIIMS Nagpur Hosts “Vesalius 2025” – National
Cadaveric Ultrasound Workshop on Regional
Anaesthesia & Pain Interventions

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Nagpur successfully hosted Vesalius
2025—a national cadaveric ultrasound workshop on regional anaesthesia and pain
interventions—on 7 December 2025 at the AIIMS Nagpur campus.
The workshop was organised jointly by the Department of Anaesthesiology and the
Department of Anatomy, in collaboration with the Cadaveric Research Academic
Board (CRAB) – AORA. The event was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) P. P. Joshi,
Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Nagpur, who appreciated the coordinated academic
efforts and emphasised the importance of advanced skills training in procedural
specialties.The workshop featured:
* Hands-on ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia and pain-intervention training
* Integration of clinical anatomy with procedural practice
* Catheter insertion techniques demonstrated for the first time in this format
* Dedicated cadaver-based stations for Minimally Invasive Pain and Spine
Interventions (MIPSI)
* High-fidelity training using advanced ultrasound systems
Over 40 delegates from across the country participated and were mentored by
expert national faculty. Participants appreciated the structured format, focused
hands-on training, and the innovative inclusion of catheter-based techniques and
MIPSI stations, which significantly strengthened skill development and clinical
application.
The organising departments stated that Vesalius 2025 reinforces AIIMS Nagpur’s
commitment to high-quality postgraduate education, advancement in pain and
regional anaesthesia practices, and promoting interdisciplinary academic
collaboration.
