Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports ASMITA League the Catalyst for Improving India’s Olympic Medal Count: Smt Raksha Khadse ASMITA athletics league conducted in three race categories across 250 locations nationwide International Women’s Day celebrated with enthusiasm at Sports Authority of India, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Posted On: 08 MAR 2026 2:10PM by PIB Mumbai Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, 8th March 2026 Hon’ble Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports, Smt Raksha Nikhil Khadse, on Sunday said that India’s medal tally at the Summer Olympic Games and other multi-discipline international events can improve only if there is a significant rise in women’s participation in sports.Smt Khadse made the remarks during the launch of a nationwide athletics league at 250 locations across the country under the ASMITA (Achieving Sports Milestone by Inspiring Women Through Action) programme at the Divisional Sports Complex, Garkheda, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, organised to celebrate International Women’s Day. The Union Minister of State also inaugurated yoga, wushu, kickboxing and weightlifting leagues under the ASMITA banner.
