Wheereas, thhe Karnattaka Publlic Workss Departmment Serrvice (Speecial
Recruitmment of Asssistant EEngineer Grade-1 and Junnior Engiineer) Ruules,
2019 whhich the Governmment of KKarnatakaa, in exeercise of the powwers
conferredd by sub-section (11) of section 3 reaad with seection 8 oof Karnattaka
State Civvil Servicees Act, 19978 (Karnataka Actt 14 of 19990) was publishedd in
Notificatioon No. PWWD 166 SeSaki 2018, dateed: 06.033.2019 in part IV-AA of
tthe Karnaataka Gazzette (Exttraordinarry) No. 2116, dated 6th Marchh 2019.
Wheereas, said Speciaal Recruittment Rules, 20199 is frameed subjecct to
conditionn that, these rules shall apply ffoor not mmore thaan one ttime
recruitmeent and there is no provvision to take upp the reccruitmentt of
additionaal requirred vacaant postts to taake up the infrastructuural
developmments andd other immportant civil works like smart citty and otther
iimportannt project works annd also there is aa demandd to fill upp the vaccant
pposts in the variouus Develoopment BBoards annd Corporrations onn deputattion
bbasis andd further the postss falling vvacant duue to retirrement annd promottion
ffrom timee to timee are requuired to ffilled at tthe earlieest belongg to Kalyyana
Karnatakka region posts of AAssistant Engineerrs and Juunior Enggineers unnder
AArticle 3771(J).
Wheereas, it iis decidedd that it iis necessaary to takke up thee recruitmment
wwith traansparenccy througgh the Kaarnataka Public Seervice Commmissionn as
defined uunder claause (b) oof rule 2 of the Kaarnataka Civil Serrvices (Direct
Recruitmment by CCompetitivve Examinnations aand Selecction) Rulles, 20066 for
recruitmeent of Grooup-B posts of Asssistant Enngineers and Grouup-C postts of
JJunior Enngineers.

Whereas, vide Notification No. PWD 166 SeSaki 2018, dated:
31.10.2019 the Karnataka Public Works Department Service (Special
Recruitment of Assistant Engineers Grade-1 and Junior Engineers) Rules,
2019 in Notification No. PWD 166 SeSaki 2018, dated: 6th March, 2019 is
now decided to annul and handed over the recruitment process of 600
Assistant Engineers Grade-1 and 325 Junior Engineers through the
Karnataka Public Service Commission.
Now, therefore, the draft of the following rules which the Government
of Karnataka proposes to make in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-
section (1) of section 3 read with section 8 of the Karnataka State Civil
Services Act, 1978 (Karnataka Act 14 of 1990) is hereby published as
required by clause (a) of sub-section (2) of section 3 of the said Act, for the
information of all persons likely to be affected thereby and notice is hereby
given that the said draft rules will be taken into consideration after the
expiry of fifteen days from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Any objection or suggestion which may be received by the State
Government from any person with respect to the said draft rules before the
expiry of the period specified above will be considered by the State
Government. Objections and suggestions may be addressed to the
Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Public Works, Ports and Inland
Water Transport Department, Vikasa Soudha, Dr. Ambedkar Veedhi,
Bengaluru-560 001.
DRAFT RULES
1. Title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the
Karnataka Public Works Department Service (Special Recruitment of
Assistant Engineers Grade-1 and Junior Engineers) (Repeal) Rules, 2020.
(2) They shall be deemed to have come into force with effect from 31st
October 2019.
2. Repeal of the Karnataka Public Works Department Service
(Special Recruitment of Assistant Engineers Grade-1 and Junior
Engineers) Rules, 2019.- The Karnataka Public Works Department Service
(Special Recruitment of Assistant Engineers Grade-1 and Junior Engineers)
Rules, 2019 is hereby repealed and deemed to have been repealed with
effect from 31st October 2019.
