Busan has established a strong reputation as a City of Film, supported by a flourishing film culture and a vibrant domestic film industry. Home to renowned events such as the Busan International Film Festival and the Busan International Short Film Festival, the city offers a rich ecosystem of screenings, community programmes, industry engagement initiatives and workshops that nurture emerging filmmakers. The Busan: Next Wave section at the 19th Mumbai International Film Festival features five films exploring diverse themes through refined and distinctive cinematic styles. The film ‘A Man Who Takes Pictures of Flowers’ follows photographer Jung Myung Kim, who has spent more than 40 years travelling across Korea photographing wildflowers. Now facing a serious illness, he continues to find joy and purpose in his work.
