Central Government hereby makes the following notification further to amend the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare
This notification, S.O. 510(E), issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, amends a previous notification regarding livestock importation. Specifically, it modifies paragraph 1, clause (d) of notification S.O. 2337(E), dated July 8, 2016. The amendment replaces the previous definition of "pest or disease-free areas and areas of low pest or disease prevalence" with a definition referencing the World Trade Organization Agreement on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures. S. O. 510(E).— In exercise of the power conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 and 3A of
the Livestock Importation Act, 1898 (9 of 1898), the Central Government hereby makes the
following notification further to amend the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of
Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries)
published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), vide number
S.O. 2337 (E), dated the 8th July, 2016 namely,-
In the said notification in paragraph 1 for clause (d) the following shall be substituted, namely,-
‘(d) Pest-or disease-free areas and areas of low pest or disease prevalence means the pest or disease
free areas and areas of low pest or disease prevalence as defined in the World Trade Organization
Agreement on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures’.
