The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment (DoSJE), Ministry of Social Justice and
Empowerment, will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ramakrishna Math and
Ramakrishna Mission (RKM), for the implementation of the nationwide initiative ‘Creating
Intergenerational Bonding’ in the National Capital, tomorrow.
The MoU will be signed at Ramakrishna Mission, Paharganj, New Delhi, in the gracious presence of
Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar; Minister of State for
Social Justice and Empowerment Shri B.L. Verma; Secretary, MoSJE, Shri Sudhansh Pant; Joint
Secretary, DoSJE, Shri Sajeesh Kumar N.; and Secretary, RKM, Swami Sarvalokananda.
The initiative seeks to strengthen emotional and cultural bonds among children, parents and
grandparents through play-based and evidence-informed activities delivered through the school system.
The initiative reflects the Prime Minister’s emphasis on respect for elders and inclusive development. It
reaffirms that the vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ is realised in its fullest sense when every
generation moves forward together.Under the collaboration, a scalable design and implementation model will be developed and
introduced across 200 pilot schools nationwide. The programme will include Co-Learning Games, a
bilingual Resource Centre website and teacher certification. Based on its implementation, the initiative has
the potential to be expanded and sustained across the country.
The programme is expected to complement the Ministry’s existing senior citizen welfare initiatives,
including the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY) and the Elderline helpline. It will provide
opportunities for senior citizens to pass on their wisdom and values, enable parents to bridge tradition and
modernity, and help children remain rooted in culture while developing a sense of emotional security.
Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, inspired by the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna
Paramhans and Swami Vivekananda, has more than a century of experience in education, health,
culture and humanitarian service. RKM will serve as the implementing partner for the initiative,
supported by a Knowledge Development Partner for research, design and assessment.
