Ministry of Culture Financial Assistance to Artists and Cultural Organisations in Maharashtra under Kala Sanskriti Vikas Yojana (KSVY) Posted On: 16 MAR 2026 5:08PM by PIB Mumbai Mumbai, 16 March 2026 The Ministry of Culture administers the Kala Sanskriti Vikas Yojana (KSVY), a Central Sector Scheme under which financial assistance is provided directly to eligible artists, cultural groups and cultural organizations across the country, including those in rural areas. The scheme supports various forms of performing arts and cultural activities through different components. Since KSVY is a Central Sector Scheme, financial assistance is released directly to beneficiaries and is not allocated on a State-wise or district-wise basis. Accordingly, the scheme does not provide grants to State Governments or districts for the development of cultural centres. During the financial year 2025–26, an allocation of ₹37,500 lakh has been made under the scheme. Under KSVY, financial assistance is provided to individual artists, art groups and cultural organizations based on eligibility criteria prescribed under the respective components of the scheme. The assistance is generally sanctioned based on: Submission of complete applications in the prescribed format Fulfilment of eligibility conditions specified under the relevant component of the scheme Recommendation of Expert Committees constituted by the Ministry of Culture The scheme does not follow district-based selection criteria for grant allocation. However, artists and organisations from backward, tribal and rural areas, including those from the State of Maharashtra, are eligible to apply and receive assistance subject to fulfilment of scheme guidelines. The Nandurbar Lok Sabha constituency has not been specifically identified for establishment of any cultural or sports facility or artist residency centre under KSVY. Since financial assistance is not allocated on a district-wise basis, the Ministry does not maintain district-wise data on funds sanctioned under the scheme. However, financial assistance is released to eligible beneficiaries across the country, including those in Maharashtra, under various components of the scheme.
