NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 2nd May, 2022
F. No. C&O-5(7)/RO/2022.—In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 39 (1) and Section
39 (2) of Jamia Millia Islamia Act, 1988, the Executive Council, with the approval of the Visitor, hereby
makes the amendments in Statute 17, Statute 20 and Statute 22-A as follows:
1. Short title and commencement:
(1) These Statutes may be called as Jamia Millia Islamia (Amendment) Statutes 2022.
(2) It shall come in force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
2. In Jamia Millia Islamia Statutes, Statute 17 will be named as “FACULTIES”
17. FACULTIES:
The University shall have the following Faculties namely:
(1) The Faculty of Humanities and Languages
(2) The Faculty of Social Sciences;
(3) The Faculty of Natural Sciences;
(4) The Faculty of Education;
(5) The Faculty of Engineering and Technology
(6) The Faculty of Law;
(7) The Faculty of Architecture & Ekistics;
(8) The Faculty of Dentistry;
(9) The Faculty of Fine Arts;
(10) Faculty of Management Studies; and
(11) Such other Faculties as may be prescribed by these Statutes
20. DEPARTMENTS:
(1) Each Faculty shall have such Departments as may be assigned to it by the Ordinances.
(2) No Department shall be established or abolished except by these Statutes.
(3) The Departments in existence 11[in the University at the commencement of the Jamia Millia
Islamia Act, 1988 and the Faculties relating thereto are set out in Appendix ‘A’ to this
Statute.
Provided that the following shall also be the Departments of Studies:

2. Subject to the provisions of the Act and these Statutes, each Centre shall function under a Board of
Management, the composition, powers and functions of which shall be as prescribed in the
Ordinances of the respective Centres.
3. Each Centre shall have a Director, who shall be appointed in accordance with the provisions of the
relevant Statute; and shall enjoy such powers and perform such functions as prescribed by the
Ordinances.
