This notification, S.O. 2159(E), issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation on June 16, 2016, amends the Third Schedule of the Carriage by Air Act, 1972, to reflect revised limits of liability. Effective from the date of publication in the Official Gazette, the amendments are as follows:
1. In rule 21, subrule 1, the phrase "one lakh" is replaced with "one lakh thirteen thousand one hundred".
2. In rule 22:
* In subrule 1, the phrase "four thousand one hundred and fifty" is replaced with "four thousand six hundred and ninety four".
* In subrule 2, the phrase "one thousand" is replaced with "one thousand one hundred and thirty one".
* In subrule 3, the word "seventeen" is replaced with "nineteen".
This directive is issued in exercise of the powers conferred by subsection (6) of section 4A of the Carriage by Air Act, 1972 (69 of 1972), and pursuant to rule 24 of Chapter III of the Third Schedule to the said Act.

NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 16th June, 2016
S.O. 2159(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (6) of section 4A of the Carriage
by Air Act, 1972 (69 of 1972), and pursuant to rule 24 of Chapter III of the Third Schedule to the said Act,
the Central Government, having regard to the provisions of the said Act, and considering it necessary or
expedient to give effect to the limits of liability as revised by the depository, hereby directs that with effect
from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette, the provisions of the Third Schedule
to the said Act shall stand amended as follows, namely:-
1. in rule 21, in sub-rule (1), for the words “one lakh”, the words “one lakh thirteen thousand one
hundred” shall be substituted;
2. in rule 22,-
(a) in sub-rule (1), for the words “four thousand one hundred and fifty”, the words “four
thousand six hundred and ninety four” shall be substituted;
(b) in sub-rule (2), for the words “one thousand”, the words “one thousand one hundred and
thirty one” shall be substituted;
(c) in sub-rule (3), for the word “seventeen”, the word “nineteen” shall be substituted.
