S.O. 1006(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (1), (2) and (3) of section 3 of the
Environment (Protection), Act, 1986 (29 of 1986), read with the paragraph 53 of the notification of the Government of
India, in the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, published in the Gazette of
India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), vide number S. O. 3187(E), dated the 7th October, 2016
(hereinafter referred to as the said notification), the Central Government hereby constitutes an authority to be called as
the District Ganga Protection Committee for District North 24 Parganas of the State of West Bengal, comprising of the
following members, namely:-
(A) Ex-officio Members:
(i) District Magistrate and Collector, 24 Parganas (North) - Chairperson;
(ii) Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, 24 Parganas (North) - Member;
(iii) Executive Engineer, Irrigation, 24 Parganas (North) - Member;
(iv) Executive Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department, 24 Parganas - Member;
(North)
(v) Controller, West Bengal Pollution Control Board - Member;

the said notification.
4. Travelling Allowance, Daily Allowance and sitting fees of the nominated Members shall be governed by the

S.O. 1013(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (1), (2) and (3) of section 3 of the
Environment (Protection), Act, 1986 (29 of 1986), read with the paragraph 53 of the notification of the Government of
India, in the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, published in the Gazette of
India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), vide number S. O. 3187(E), dated the 7th October, 2016
(hereinafter referred to as the said notification), the Central Government hereby constitutes an authority to be called as
the District Ganga Protection Committee for District Purba Medinipur of the State of West Bengal, comprising of the
following members, namely:-
(A) Ex-officio Members:
(i) District Magistrate, Purba Medinipur - Chairperson;
(ii) Executive Engineer, Public Works Department (Roads), Tamluk - Member;
(iii) Executive Engineer, Irrigation, Purba Medinipur Division - Member;
(iv) Executive Engineer, Public Health Engineering, Tamluk Division - Member;
(v) Sr. Environmental Engineer, West Bengal Pollution Control Board - Member;
(vi) Divisional Forest Officer, Purba Medinipur - Member and Convenor;
(B) Nominated Members:
(i) Executive Officer In Charge, Pollution Control Board, Purba Medinipur - Member;

2. The nominated Members shall hold office for a term of two years from the date of publication of this Order in the
Official Gazette.
3. The District Ganga Protection Committee shall exercise such powers and perform such functions as specified in the
said notification.
4. Travelling Allowance, Daily Allowance and sitting fees of the nominated Members shall be governed by the
relevant rules of the State Government.
5. The Chairperson may decide the procedure and frequency for holding the meetings as per the said notification.
