NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 10th January, 2018
S.O. 138(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred by the section 7 of the “Metro Railways
(Operations and Maintenance) Act, 2002”, the Central Government hereby creates one circle office of
Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) in the Commission of Railway Safety under the Ministry of
Civil Aviation, at New Delhi with jurisdiction at all the states and Union Territories (UTs) except at area for
which additional charge will be assigned to existing Commissioners of Railway safety (CRSs).
2. Ministry of Civil Aviation has been empowered for assigning of additional charge of two circles to
two existing Commissioners of Railway safety (CRSs) who will exercise their powers within their existing
jurisdiction. These circles will not be under the jurisdiction of CMRS, New Delhi.
3. The office premises with all the necessary infrastructure for setting up the Circle Office of
Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety at New Delhi shall be provided by the concerned Metro Railway at
New Delhi. In addition to this, one official vehicle with one driver shall also be provided by the concerned
Metro Railway at New Delhi. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs shall direct the concerned metro
railway agencies for providing the same.
