NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 18th July, 2019
No.1/NSC/2019.—In pursuance of the Government of India Resolution No. A-11011/1/2005-Ad. I dated
1.6.2005 published as Notification No. 85 dated 1st June, 2005 in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-III, Section-4
read along with the Notification No. 299 dated 4th September 2018 in the Gazette of India-Extraordinary Part-I Section-1,
the following persons have been appointed part-time Chairman and part-time Members in the National Statistical
Commission, with effect from the 15th July 2019.
(i) Prof. Bimal Kumar Roy, Head R.C. Bose Centre for Cryptology & Security, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata as
Chairman, for a period of three years, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
(ii) Dr. Kiran Pandya (D.O.B: 12-01-1960), Professor & Head, Department of Human Resources Development, Veer
Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat as Part-Time Member for (category 2).
(iii) Shri Pulak Ghosh (D.O.B: 24.09.1973), Professor, IIM Bangalore-Data Centre and Analytics Lab as Part-Time
Member for (category 3).
(iv) Dr. Gurucharan Manna (D.O.B: 15-03-1957), Professor, Institute for Human Development, IHD & Senior Advisor,
NCAER as part-time Member (category-4).
2. The tenure of each Member will be three years or till he attains the age of sixty-five years, whichever is earlier. The
appointment, tenure and service conditions of the part-time Members shall further be governed by Government of India
Notification No. A-11011/1/2005-Ad-I (Vol. IV) dated 8th May, 2006 published as Notification No. 465 dated 10th May,
2006 in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-Section (ii).
3. The Chairman of the Commission will have the status of a Minister of State in the Government of India and the
Members of the Commission will have the status of a Secretary to the Government of India.
